CRYING OUT

This tool is good to use when you are contending for a breakthrough in an area that has deeply stirred your heart or an area that has stubbornly resisted breakthrough.

  1. Set aside a significant amount of time (30-60 minutes or more) to cry out to the Lord concerning your desperation or need.
    • During your time do whatever helps you cry out:
      • Pray
      • Pray in tongues
      • Worship/praise
      • Give thanks
      • Groan/cry
      • Repeatedly say the name, Jesus
      • Other
    • You may not even be aware of exactly what you are feeling or needing but you just know you need something from the Lord. As you cry out and as the Lord moves, you will become clearer about your need.

Read out loud: Luke 11:9–10 (ISV)

So I say to you: “Keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened.”

  2. Create a playlist of songs that helps you communicate your heart to the Lord, and/or instrumental music to use during your times of praying and crying out.

  3. Continue to do this daily or at least 3-4 times per week until you see the Lord break through.
    • Do not stop when you feel your desperation lessen.
    • Only stop or slow after the Lord has broken through and you see His response.

  4. When the answers come, talk about it! Thank the Lord! Rejoice and tell others the testimony of what good things the Lord has done for you.
