“We came expectant but weary. A 23-year-old 2nd marriage we are committed to but had a tough year of change and struggle. We wanted sexual breakthrough. We wanted depth and more closeness. More oneness. First, we both chose to be more vulnerable as they spoke of Nothing Hidden. This led to my husband being open to sharing and receiving healing from his childhood abuse. I had a hellacious childhood that included being raped by my father and have worked through to healing on many levels, but the Holy Spirit asked me to go further. Then the sex talk and challenge came, and we both felt defeated, and I felt angry. We received more prayer, did more surrendering and 1-2-3 skidooing. Holy Spirit revealed more of the lies and agreements we had made at the beginning of our marriage where we said the gift of sex would not be in our marriage and as we confessed and broke that lie, freedom came! Closeness physically, emotionally and spiritually entered. A boldness and knowing of His authority in our lives began.”
