“I didn’t want to be here. Not at all. In the weeks leading up to this event, finding every excuse POSSIBLE to avoid attending this marriage workshop was the goal. Why? Well, our marriage seemed in good enough shape. Not perfect, but not in any danger of collapse. So why go? And as a growing small business owner, with three kids in college, and the rest of our younger kids at home involved in every sports team under the sun, we haven’t a MINUTE to spare between the two of us. The idea of sneaking away and forcing myself and my wife to sit in a room somewhere for 60 hours *talking* about marriage . . . seemed like a luxury we could not afford.
My wife won out. I shuffled my schedule and (begrudgingly) attended.
