LAM Testimony: The Power Of Forgiveness

“We came [to Love After Marriage] seeking to re-establish connection (spiritually, emotionally, sexually).  We also wanted tools to strengthen and grow connection.  We got all this.  We came away with oneness and weapons to fight and tools to grow.  Every session and every activity brought change and growth in oneness.

I was particularly impacted by the forgiveness exercise.  During a Spirit Connection time, a man shared how an attempted abuse opened the door to pornography/sexual perversity.  The Holy Spirit reminded me of an incident when I was a preschooler.  I had forgotten it, but when I asked who I needed to forgive, the memory came back.  I could remember details including smells and texture, but I could not remember the perpetrator’s name.  Then the name dropped in.  Wow.  My wife led me through forgiveness.  I had been unaware of all the repercussions, but Holy Spirit revealed them – wow again.  It was so freeing and released shame, too.  I had experienced some great inner healing ministry in January, so I didn’t think I needed to process forgiveness, but in fact, I did.  Thank You.  More, Lord, more!  Kingdom come!” – LAM Husband

“This week [at Love After Marriage] was far more impactful than I could have ever imagined.  I came with my heart pretty much shut down from my husband.  We were disconnected.  I was full of resentments and regrets.  Our intimacy had been impacted, and my desire to be with him was waning.  Throughout this week, I have been able to have such revelation and insight into myself.  I know and have known that it does take two in this marriage, and I had and have my own responsibility in making our marriage work.  I had so many resentments, confusion and emotional shut downs that our stuff was all construed together.  This week has helped me release, forgive and face myself so I could face my husband.  We have been able to truly come to understandings, breakthroughs and deep connection.  It feels good to have our plate of paint brought back into vibrant colors and not just a plate of black and grey mess.  I truly, truly honor and commend Barry and Lori for their vulnerability and openness.  It facilitated us/me to have deep understanding and help me to face things in my mind and heart.  I truly believe there is change.  Also, I loved my group – new brothers and sisters for sure.” – LAM Wife
